I was put on Macrobid for a UTI and I told the doctor that the last time I took it I got hives two days after the treatment was over. She said that it was probably just a coincidence since if I had an allergy it would show up while on the antibiotic. So, again two days after stopping I am so itchy I can’t stand it. I took Benadryl but I was curious if anyone else ever had a reaction after stopping meds and not while on them?
Yesterday, i had a bad case of hives. My ears swelled up like opie, my lips and eyes were huge and hives were all over my back, breast, and arms. I took hydroxzine and benadryl which helped greatly, but why does this happen. This is the first time that i had such a severe case….help. Are there any natural remedies i could take to help lessen the hives in the future.
Last Thursday, I started noticing that I was a little itchy. By Thursday night, the tops of my feet were incredibly itch. When I woke up Friday morning, I was covered from head to toe with hives. There isn’t a place on my body (including the palms of my hands and my scalp) that hasn’t itched. After taking copious amounts of both Benadryl and Zyrtec, I decided to go to the doctor. He seemed to think I was having an allergic reaction to Cymbalta, which I was on for a week and then went off because it made me dizzy. Since the allergy medicines weren’t touching my reaction, he has put me on Prednisone for about a week. Has anyone ever found success with a short treatment of Prednisone for hives? I’m very paranoid because I keep reading/hearing all these horror stories about people with chronic hives (I know someone who has had them for five years) and I do NOT want that to be my life.
My 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier had an allergic reaction (hives, swelling, etc) to what we assume was a bite yesterday. He was treated with 4 ml of dexamethasone and put on a combination steroid/antihistamine (Temeril-P) for the next week or so. He seemed to be improving until we noticed tonight that he has developed a bright red rash covering his body. He does not seem to be itchy or irritated and still appears to be in good spirits (but I will be taking him to the vet on Monday). What could I use to treat the rash? Benadryl and other antihistimines are out since he’s already on one.
ive tryed oatmeal baths benadryl capsules went to the doc and got a steroid shot and pills to take for it triamidol or something like that anyways there getting worse and more itchy just wanted to know a good solution to getting them better fast thanks for any answers and i hope you have a wonderful disease-less happy health life filled with all of your life dreams and goals 
sorry i forgot to say the doctor thinks it was an allergic to welbutrin i have no allergy’s other than a very rare beetle in the Sahara desert i only took it for about a week and everthing was going ok till i woke up with big sore itchy bumps all over my body
Too, how are they easily relieved if the itch is unbearable..Calamine lotion doesn’t seem to do the best of a job. Doctors have told me to give my son Benadryl, but what I really want to know is what causes it.? My son has had them about 4-5 times in his life and I think it ocurs with him whenever he’s having an allergic reaction to something or if he’s sleeping over at a relative’s house.
So, do antihistamines/allergy meds actually work for stress hives? I’ve been on Prednizone since Wednesday night, with the occasional dose of Benadryl whenever I find new hives. Now, I just found a new patch of hives on my arm. They haven’t really turned into red welts, just a few raised dots. I found another one on my chest earlier, waited an hour, saw that it was beginning to go away, and took a Benadryl anyway, to speed the process. At any rate, should I still be getting them?
Two nights ago, the tops of my feet broke out with hives. By yesterday morning, they were all over my body. I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary, nor have I changed any soaps or detergents. I have chronic urticaria thats stress and heat induced. I get red blotchyness all over my face nack and chest and it takes forever to go away and It’s horribly embarressing. Anyone know what the best treatments are? benadryl doesn’t work for me. Anyone ever tried Hivecten?
