Hives treatment?
My five year old sister has hives all over her body. The doctor said its a reaction to the flu, which she had about a month ago. She is going to the doctor tomorrow (probably), but what can we do right now?
I can’t get a good picture of them, but they are light red splotches usually with one big one and then smaller ones around it, and her back is very broken out, with about 2/3 of it covered in hives. They don’t itch her too bad, but they do hurt occasionly, especially on her feet. She also has stomach pain, if that has any thing to do with it.

Other then giving her benadryl or some form of antihistamine there really isn’t much you can do for hives. They will usually go away on their own. Most of the time they will itch terribly. Keep her dry and cool as getting too warm can cause more hives to appear.
Benadryl is great - and let her soak in an oatmeal bath
as much as she wants.
Also Calimine lotion may help.
Please consult a doctor as soon as possible, immediately if she is running a fever. This sounds very serious, especially at that fragile age. A month is a long time post flu virus for her to exhibit these signs. You may want to investigate any new medications she may have been placed on since this began,if so this may be the cause-adverse drug reaction/allergy, and may explain abdominal pain. Either way seek medical attention please.
